From left to right: My Husband Barry, my Mom Roseanne, and the Hamiltonians Linda & Doug. The weather was perfect today to bring in the hay from the fields. We have always been able to count on my Mom to come up and give us a hand, especially during hay season and do we ever appreciate it. We were fortunate to have another couple, Linda & Doug, that made a trip up from Hamilton to give us a hand today too.
It was great to have all the help because things go so much faster with more people. My Mom and I were in the barn stacking the hay (I could barely keep up with her pace), Barry was unloading the wagons and Linda & Doug were loading the bales onto the hay elevator. With all the help it took no time at all.
We managed to get about 750 small bales into the barn and 38- 4x4 rounds into the yard but we still need about 3x that to get us through until next year. Hopefully the fields will start growing again and we can get a good second cut, the more we can grow the less we need to buy.
